HIGHLIGHTS
Some destinations don’t just impress; they stay with you long after you’ve left. Alaska and Canada’s Inside Passage is one of them. Defined by dramatic fjords, towering glaciers and wildlife-rich coastlines, this region offers a rare sense of scale and stillness, best experienced from the water where the scenery reveals itself slowly and uninterrupted.
Sailing aboard Seabourn Odyssey, Catherine Rynd, Marketing Lead at Seabourn, explored this remarkable corner of the world through an experience that balances thoughtful service, immersive exploration and refined comfort. Discover how Seabourn frames Alaska through a series of memorable destination experiences and the highlights from her journey.
1. All-Suite Comfort & Effortless Onboard Experience
I really appreciated was the Seabourn experience onboard. Every room is a suite with a private veranda, so you always have your own space to sit and take in the views. Every sailing includes glacier viewing, and there are lots of thoughtful little touches along the way, like the complimentary all-weather jacket. It’s those small things, along with the comfort and service, that make it all feel effortless.
2. Kayaking with Ventures by Seabourn
Kayaking straight from the ship with Ventures by Seabourn was honestly something I’ll never forget. We launched in Tracy Arm and paddled towards North Sawyer Glacier with just our small group and a guide. It was so quiet you could hear the glacier ice crackling and calving around us. One of those moments where you just stop and take it all in.

3. Exploring Misty Fjords by Zodiac
Misty Fjords was another favourite. We spent the day heading out by Zodiac directly from the ship, weaving through the fjord, checking out waterfalls, spotting bald eagles and even seeing bears along the shoreline. It felt remote and untouched, like we were really in it rather than just passing through.
4. Outdoor Dining & Scenic Evenings at Sea
Evenings were just as good. Sitting outside at Earth & Ocean, wrapped in blankets under the heaters, watching the scenery roll by. In summer it stays light so late in Alaska, so you’re almost always surrounded by views. The food was an incredible too, fresh with exotic flavours and a nice way to wind down after a big day.
5. Expedition-Style Discovery with Seabourn Luxury
The best part was that even though this isn’t an expedition ship, we still got to experience so many expedition-style moments. Visiting off-the-beaten-track destinations, having an expedition team onboard and launching Zodiacs and kayaks straight from the ship made it feel really immersive. At the same time, it still felt like relaxed luxury with Seabourn, with incredible service, amazing dining and the comfort of all-suite accommodation, which made the whole experience feel effortless.
