It’s a small thing, but it tells you everything about how carefully this ship has been conceived.

The crew were, without exception, outstanding. Warm, attentive and genuinely enthusiastic about where we were and what we were experiencing together. In eleven days, I never once heard the word “no.”

Where Mother Nature Writes the Itinerary

Our expedition leader, Luciano, operates with a philosophy I found both refreshing and remarkable: no two guests should have the same Antarctica experience. And the wildlife. Where do I even begin?

The undisputed highlight, for us and for many of the expedition team who had never witnessed this themselves, was encountering Emperor penguin chicks in Antarctica. These extraordinary creatures, impossibly fluffy and entirely unbothered by our presence, are not a guaranteed sighting on any voyage. We were extraordinarily lucky, and we knew it. We also spent wonderful time with Gentoo, Adélie and Chinstrap penguins, watched Leopard and fur seals in their element, and were treated to sightings of both Orca and Humpback whales. The birdlife was remarkable throughout.

Every Zodiac cruise felt like unwrapping a gift, a new bay, a new perspective, a new layer of beauty to this impossible landscape. We kayaked amongst penguins and icebergs as calving glaciers cracked and thundered in the distance. We witnessed the silent, ancient scale of this continent from the water, paddle in hand, completely absorbed. And yes, we did the Polar Plunge. Cold doesn’t even begin to cover it. Exhilarating, ridiculous and absolutely worth it.

February: The Right Time to Go

If you’re advising clients on timing, February is exceptional. We were blessed with clear blue skies, calm seas and long, luminous days. The light in Antarctica at this time of year is extraordinary, soft and golden, even at unusual hours, and it makes every photograph and every moment feel cinematic.
